Meet Randy...
My Background
After 15 years in the automotive industry, I pivoted towards the world of political depolarization. Having watched our civic divides deepen during the 2016 election, I joined a nonprofit organization, now called Braver Angels, to help bring Americans back together. It's one of the leading national groups focused on reducing political polarization, active in all 50 states.
I served in a variety of roles there, including leading the effort to migrate events to the online environment and working with partner organizations to address their internal challenges with polarization. In 2023 I founded DOC: Depolarizing Organization Cultures, to bring this experience to outside organizations.
But who am I really?
I'm a devoted uncle who moved from Southern California to Washington, DC, in 2023 to live closer to family. I'm a soccer goalie, a car enthusiast, and a karaoke fiend, who loves talking to people from every background imaginable about the state of our society and how we can work towards something better.

I love hearing people's stories and having my beliefs challenged. I love to learn that I was wrong about something, since it means I'm still growing as a person. And I even like delivering a sincere apology, especially when I've learned a bit about how to be better, since it actually strengthens relationships.
My Education
I have a degree in economics from Duke University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. At Braver Angels I benefited from the mentorship of Dr. Bill Doherty, an organization co-founder and professor of family therapy at the University of Minnesota, and under his guidance became one of the organization's most experienced and sought-after workshop moderators.

I'm now pursuing my Master's in conflict analysis and resolution at the Carter School at George Mason, working with academic polarization labs to continue strengthening my practice.
